SPLIT
Split is the center and the largest port of Middle Dalmatia, surrounded by the islands of Brac, Hvar, Solta and Ciovo. The city was built on the historical core, the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, and as such among the few in the world is under the protection of UNESCO's cultural heritage. Northern of Split is the historical town of Trogir, the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic city in Europe, also under UNESCO protection.
